Why is regular cleaning essential?
Every year, tons of sand sludge and residues settle at the bottom of containers in biogas plants. Even with the best agitator technology, it is unavoidable that solids accumulate on the fermenter floor over time. Depending on the substrate, sand and stones picked up during harvest can be expected.
Two things come first when cleaning fermentation tanks: the right safety equipment and the right technology for extracting residues.
Agitator damage
Deposits on the bottom damage agitators and render them inoperable.
Heating damage
Solids settle on heating surfaces and impair heat transfer.
Declining gas yield
Non-mixable, non-pumpable mass significantly reduces the active fermentation volume.
Costly downtime
Unplanned outages cause high costs - regular cleaning prevents them.
